Eames house bird |
I came across the Eames House Bird recently and I loved it.
Charles and Ray Eames designed this black wooden bird in the style of Folk art.
They had originally designed it for themselves and it lived in in their living room for 50 years. However when they used it as part poster for the Eames DKR chairs and it became a hit.
In cooperation with the Eames family, Vitra used 3-D scans of the original to create the solid alder wood reproduction that can now be purchased via Designs Within Reach.
It is quite affordable really... pity I am banned by husband from purchasing anything for the foreseeable future.
I will just have to wait and see if the Eames Fairy will buy one for me for my birthday or Christmas or Easter...
