Let's make lemonade

You never know what life brings you do you? One day it is all plain sailing, the next day something crazy happens

You just need to make the most of the situation

Who knows what the rest of this year will bring?

We could be plodding along or maybe we get to tick #43 off the Life List and move to New York?

Who knows?

I hope it does, as I have at least 10 items on my Life List to tick off

So let's go and make lemonade...

Living the dream

As you know, I have been trying to tick #43 off the Life List for some time now.

As you have read before, 'Husband' and I have been plotting to make the move to New York and live the dream ever since we returned from holidaying there in January.

However a few things have stopped us from doing this.

Husband's most recent achievement from Prometheus

The main reason is that we have both found it difficult to find jobs that will both sponsor us and let us stay for a 1 year or so. How very dare they!

The other reason is that 'husband' has been offered a short term contract to work in Wellington, New Zealand, working on the visual effects for a little film that 'may or may not' involve short mythical creatures with hairy feet!

So at least one of us will be getting to Tick #43 off the list. I will just have to live vicariously through him for the time being.

So look out to seeing my many happy snaps and posts as I get to discover the lovely Wellington, #4 on Lonely Planet's Top 10 cities to visit in the world.

145 on 6th

As I mentioned recently, husband and I are seriously considering moving to New York so I can fulfill #43 of my Life List, 'Live Overseas'.

I was looking at Manhattan rentals online and somehow stumbled on a Soho loft that was definitely NOT in our budget. But obviously Google knew that in my dreams I would LOVE something like this.

How stunning is that living room?

It is on 6th Avenue in Soho and according to the real estate agent, is 'the epitome of chic modern living'.  It has 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, and 3 Home Offices. It covers 3500 square foot was created and was the home to a 'world renowned' fashion designer. I wonder who???

Unfortunately the rent is 'just' outside our budget, they are asking for $30,000 a month. That is astronomical!

I love the addition of the Votive Candle Stand in the bedroom. Lovely.
Ohh well, I can always dream!

I even found a Virtual Tour of the loft online...

#43. "I left my ♥ in NYC"...otherwise known as live/work overseas

New York, December 2011 [image by Zahara Dessert]
I have always loved to travel and I have been very fortunate to visit many beautiful and wonderful countries over the years. However it has always been as a holiday.

I have never lived overseas *.

I have never participated in the Australian tradition of living in London. To be honest... I have also never backpacked. gasp!

I finished my university degree when I was 22 and started working very soon after. It has now been over 10 years and I just haven't had the opportunity to work in another country for one reason or another.

However I am working on changing this.

Late last year we visited New York for the very first time and we absolutely adored it. NYC was fun and exciting and it seemed to have a very different vibe to anywhere else we have been. We felt so much at home there and we believe that we could live in New York in an instant.

Seeing that #43 on my life list is 'Live and work overseas for a year', I think we have found the perfect destination.

I am in the process of seeing how realistically this is going to work, but hopefully very soon we will be living in our very own brownstone in Brooklyn (well you have to think positive don't you?).

This post by Made My Girl made me feel really good about wanting to move to NYC. At the moment I am living vicariously through Jen's move.

*I do not count the 3 months I lived in Italy with my family when I was 11.
